This is far from definitive, but may get updated as I have a bit of time.
The Greedy Goose
Brilliant! The Greedy Goose is located right on the Marina in Malahide. The eating area is on the first floor of the building and has wonderful views. Be sure to request a window seat when making reservations (these being recommended – we were here on a lovely summer evening and both sittings were fully subscribed).
The food is an ecelectic mix of pure creativity – with the double twist that they provide tasting menus. Choose a sum (€20, €24 or €29) and choose from lists of 20 items or so. These range from what seem to be starters to full mains, but all are slightly smaller portions so that you can get a wide range of tastes. The concept really works and the tastes are superb. We sampled the fish and chips as a starter (one of the highlights – it’s defintely not the fish and chips you expect) and I had a Quesedilla. The house wines are delightful and the full bottles very affordable. We had the surf and turf (a 4 ounce steak resting on an amazing potato preparation topped with a huge jumbo prawn) as an ender and in between a fried mackerel plate along with Tandoori Chick drumsticks that were exceptionally good.
The bill with tip was less than €100 and well worth it. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very buzzy and tends towards loud (much like Roly’s), but not obnoxious loud. The ambience is wonderfully cosy and warm and the service superb. Highly recommended.
